Biography

Emilie Chaumet is an artist from Grenoble working with textiles. Anchored in a family heritage, the appropriation of this material allows her to situate herself, to occupy a place in the world and to crystallize what touches her. She likes “to tell stories, to create emotions with textile, to propose forms and images like sensitive and poetic plates”.

After training at the Beaux-Arts de Tours (France) (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees), she has developed a singular plastic language. Whether it is by emptying the objects/sculptures of their consistency or by proposing scenarios of transformations-mutations, the works of Emilie Chaumet become something else… “Imaginary landscapes” without contours or limits, embroideries or sculptures with defined, contained forms, spontaneous motifs; her works question the relations-tensions-connections that man maintains with his environment. Nature, whether in animal, human or plant form, is omnipresent, stylized, often poetic, each time proliferating as if to extract itself, escape, reinvent itself…
